New from Inspire · Year 7 Maths
Year 7 Maths, properly understood.
Short daily lessons that build real understanding, one idea at a time. Your child moves on when they have shown they know it, not when the week ends.
Made for Year 7, and open to every Inspire student.
How it works
- Find the starting point. A friendly placement check, not a test with a score, so nobody repeats what they know and any gaps from primary school are filled first.
- One small step a day. About 15 to 20 minutes: a quick warm-up, a clear explanation with pictures and worked examples, then practice with a worked answer for every question.
- Mistakes are fixed, not just marked. Questions are designed so a wrong answer shows which mix-up is happening. The lesson then shows that idea a different way.
- Check before moving on. A short exit ticket ends each step, and a unit check ends each unit. The next unit opens once the core steps are secure.
- Reviews that make it stick. Ideas come back after a day, a week and a month. “Mastered” means your child still knew it weeks later.
Why we teach it this way
Mastery, not time
Maths builds on itself. A shaky idea in Year 7, like place value or fractions, makes later topics harder. We make sure each step is secure first.
Depth for able pupils
Quick learners are not rushed ahead. They get challenge problems that go deeper into the same ideas: the habits that matter later for GCSE Higher, A-level and Further Maths.
Rewards for real learning
We celebrate checks passed and mistakes put right, never just the number of questions answered. There are no public leaderboards.
Works on a phone
Built for a mid-range phone and a weak connection. Lessons open offline once loaded, and practice done offline is saved and sent later.
What the course covers
- KS2 readiness: the Year 6 ideas Year 7 relies on.
- Unit 1: place value, ordering and rounding.
- Unit 2: factors, multiples, primes, powers and roots.
- Unit 3: arithmetic with whole numbers and decimals.
- More units follow through the year.
For parents and carers
You can see your child’s progress in plain words: what they are working on, which steps are secure, and what comes next. No grades and no percentages.
For schools and groups
Bringing a class or small group? Get in touch using the form below. Teachers get a view of every pupil’s levels by concept, the common misconceptions across the group, and who is stuck or due a review. Optional live small-group sessions are part of the course.
Good to know
- The course is made for Year 7, and any Inspire student can join, whatever their year group: a Year 6 getting ready, or an older student filling gaps.
- Our maths team keeps adding and improving lessons, and we welcome your feedback.
- There is no AI tutor. Every question and worked answer is written and checked by people.
- Children under 13 need a parent or carer’s permission to join; we ask for it when your child’s account is set up.
